FOUR O´CLOCK FRIDAY   Four o´clock, Friday, I´m home at last. time to forget the week that´s passed.   On Monday, at break, they stole my ball and threw it over the playground wall.   On Tuesday morning, I came in late, But they were waiting behind the gate.   On Wednesday afternoon, in games, They threw mud at me and called me names.   Yesterday, they laughed after the test ´Cause my marks were lower than the rest.   Today, they trampled my books on the floor And I was kept in because I swore.   Four o´clock, Friday, at last I´m free. For two whole days they can´t get me. Written by John Foster (Originally printed in Issue 1 Collins Educational- HarperCollins. Published 1992 ISBN 0 00 3273342

Writing tips!

Imagen
The six steps of the writing process When we write we do more than just put words together to make sentences. Good writers go through several steps to produce a piece of writing. PRE-WRITING (THE PLANNING IN THREE PARAGRAPHS ) Choose a topic: (elige el tema que te resulte más fácil de desarrollar) Gather ideas: When you have a topic, think about what you will write about that topic (decide que vas decir sobre el tema). Organise: Decide which of the ideas you want to use end where you want to use them. Choose which idea to talk about first , which to talk next and which to tal about last. (Piensa que vas a decir en cada párrafo, lo que vas a poner primero, segundo, etc. DRAFTING Write :   Write your paragraph or essay from start to finish. Use your notes about your ideas and organisation. REVIEWING AND REVISING (EDITING 1) Review structure and content: Check what you have written. Read your writing silently to yourself or aloud, perhaps to a friend.

A few ideas can be added after watching this video.

Passive for everybody

Imagen
In passive sentences, the thing receiving the action is the subject of the sentence and the thing doing the action is optionally included near the end of the sentence. You can use the passive form if you think that the thing receiving the action is more important or should be emphasized. You can also use the passive form if you do not know who is doing the action or if you do not want to mention who is doing the action. [Thing receiving action] + [be] + [past participle of verb] + [by] + [thing doing action] Examples: Active / Passive Overview Active Passive Simple Present* Once a week, Tom cleans the house. Once a week, the house is cleaned by Tom. Present Continuous* Right now, Sarah is writing the letter. Right now, the letter is being written by Sarah. Simple Past* Sam repaired the car. The car was repaired by Sam. Past Continuous* The salesman was helping the customer when the thief came into the store. The customer was being h

2º AMPLIACIÓN UNIT 6 VIDEO WATCHING FROM THIS BLOG "TIPS FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE" (We have played twice.) WHAT´S UP HEALTH PROBLEMS: VOCABULARY SB, page 34 1º BACHILLERATO 3/4 After yesterday´s explanation we have done some classwork,  WB, pages 30-31, exercises 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 ( the last ones were done but not corrected, though I am considering to have an exercise similar in the next text) It is a very talkative large class, with them I go very slowly. The lessons are painfully slow because of the constant interruptions and the noise of their chatter and they usually have very little interest  or attention during the explanations and corrections. Happy Thanksgiving

Imagen
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.   In the United States, the modern Thanksgiving holiday tradition is commonly, but not universally, traced to a poorly documented 1621 celebration at Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. Pilgrims and Puritans who began emigrating from England in the 1620s and 1630s carried the tradition of Days of Fasting and Days of Thanksgiving with them to New England. Several days of Thanksgiving were held in early New E
