FOUR O´CLOCK FRIDAY   Four o´clock, Friday, I´m home at last. time to forget the week that´s passed.   On Monday, at break, they stole my ball and threw it over the playground wall.   On Tuesday morning, I came in late, But they were waiting behind the gate.   On Wednesday afternoon, in games, They threw mud at me and called me names.   Yesterday, they laughed after the test ´Cause my marks were lower than the rest.   Today, they trampled my books on the floor And I was kept in because I swore.   Four o´clock, Friday, at last I´m free. For two whole days they can´t get me. Written by John Foster (Originally printed in Issue 1 Collins Educational- HarperCollins. Published 1992 ISBN 0 00 3273342

IF If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too: If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise; If you can dream---and not make dreams your master; If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim, If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same:. If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools; If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings, And ne

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.   In the United States, the modern Thanksgiving holiday tradition is commonly, but not universally, traced to a poorly documented 1621 celebration at Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. The 1621 Plymouth feast and thanksgiving was prompted by a good harvest. Pilgrims and Puritans who began emigrating from England in the 1620s and 1630s carried the tradition of Days of Fasting and Days of Thanksgiving with them to New England. Several days of Thanksgiving were held in early New E

Phrasal Verbs in Daily English Conversations

1º BACHILLERATO 3/4 The author of this post is Jason from  Express-English Online Institute When learning English, there are so many aspects that one must focus on in order to improve: vocabulary, writing, grammar, pronunciation, conversation, etc. However, one of the most commonly overlooked aspects of the English language is also one of the most important: Phrasal Verbs. What is a phrasal verb? A phrasal verb is the combination of a Verb and a Preposition, so: Phrasal Verb=Verb + Preposition. In most cases, the preposition modifies the definition of the verb. Phrasal verbs are so important for ESL students to study because they are used all the time by native English speakers, and are a key factor in speaking “natural” English. Let’s look at some important phrasal verbs. Drop off - To take something/someone somewhere and leave it/them in that location Example 1: I have to drop off my brother at school at 8:30. Example 2: I dropped off my laundry at the clean
