Undivided Attention by Taylor Mali A grand piano wrapped in quilted pads by movers, tied up with canvas straps - like classical music's birthday gift to the insane - is gently nudged without its legs out an eighth-floor window on 62nd street. It dangles in April air from the neck of the movers' crane, Chopin-shiny black lacquer squares and dirty white crisscross patterns hanging like the second-to-last note of a concerto played on the edge of the seat, the edge of tears, the edge of eight stories up going over, and I'm trying to teach math in the building across the street.

16/11/12 Ayer por la tarde escuchaba la radio mientras cosía botones, bajos de pantalos nuevos y otros descosidos. Yo soy de radio y de libros, ahora incluso los leoon-line o electrónicos. La entrevistada era una neuróloga de apellido alemán y la entrevistadora, Julia Otero, el tema que trataron fue el cerebro, la mente, la memoria y los problemas mentales que pueden tener solución en el futuro. La entrevista me encantó y sobre todo la idea central: El cerebro recuerda lo que se ha aprendido con curiosidad y esfuerzo. Si no hay esfuerzo no hay aprendizaje. Pecando de orgullo e incluso soberbia tengo que reconocer que sin ser de ciencias, ni haber estudiado tanto, esto ya lo sabía. Lo veo todos los días.
